Its that time of year where you are deciding, what should my new year resolutions be? Should I go out on New Years Eve? Where should I go? Who will I kiss when the clock strikes midnight? Are there any great events for kids on this day? While we can’t answer all of these questions for you, we will get pretty close. If you are anything like my brother, and you want to bring in the new year right but do not want to deal with the crowds, driving, parking, finding a new outfit and the 1000 other reasons to stay home, here are some fun ways to ring in the new year at home.
Bring the party to your house!
Throw intimate gathering for you and your closest friend and family. Simply ask Alexa or Google to play your favorite radio station, supply a couple of bottles of champagne and light snacks ( there are some great frozen apps if you don’t want to cook). You can grab an NYE party favor box from amazon and you will be sure to have all the fixings of a great countdown. Don’t forget to set your alarm to 11:59 so you can be ready for the 2020 countdown.
Pamper yourself
Cook yourself a fancy dinner complete with a delicious dessert or order a fancy to-go dinner. Make yourself your favorite cocktail in a pitcher so you can have easy refills. If you’re into New Years Resolutions, now would be a good time to make your list and how you plan to stick with them. Put on a facemask, take a hot bath, put on your favorite P.J’s and watch all the televised countdowns and firework shows from across the country and world.

A DJ is going to be playing family-friendly music all night. surprises throughout the night and a balloon drop at 8:00 p.m sharp. It will be a night to remember for the entire family.
FireWork display on 16th Street Mall
Downtown Denver hosts 2 amazing firework shows. Obviously there is a show at the stroke of midnight but the best part is, they didn’t forget about our little people who want to celebrate too. Their first show takes place at 9:00 p.m standing anywhere on the 16th street Mall will be a good view but our favorite place to stand is the clock tower near Arapahoe.
New Years Eve Resolutions
Let’s talk New Year’s resolutions. Some people love them, and some people don’t. This will be a shortlist of resolutions that people will be able to stick with and even the people who don’t love them can appreciate it.
volunteer time – this can be anything from reading at a school, feeding the homeless, habitat for humanity, taking dogs on a walk at a shelter, visiting a senior center. It may have you feeling much better when you leave then when you came.
Reach out to an old friend – We all have a friend we know and love but maybe that friend has moved to a new city, got married, had a baby, or has recently been completely preoccupied with a huge life change. You may have accidentally lost touch but now is a good time to reach out to that buddy. See how they are doing and if possible, make a plan to get a cup of coffee.
Make a new Friend – Even if your friend cup feels full, there might be your new BFF around the corner if you are willing to give it a try. Make a new friend in your class, or a parent at your kid’s school, or your job. Allies in any of those places could only be helpful for your life.
Pick up a hobby or get back into your hobby – This could be anything from knitting, mountain biking, crafting, sewing, boxing, the list could go on and on. Try one thing, or try many. The benefits of a hobby include stress relieving, promotes happiness, and stops burn-out. Ultimately, finding a hobby is fun self-care.
