The Roots drops more music from their forthcoming 11th studio album And Then You Shoot Your Cousin with the Raheem DeVaughn-led track, “Tomorrow.” Carried by an upbeat piano and accenting hi-hat that fosters a spring in your step, the hopeful track employs the soul singer’s vocals for a reminder that we are all different, yet simultaneously the same.
“‘Cause everybody need an angel/ And everybody needs a smile/ And everybody has an angle/ And everybody wants tomorrow right now,” DeVaughn sings on the song’s chorus.
Though sans a lyrical contribution from Black Thought, Questlove and company hold down the track with a refreshing instrumental that fits DeVaughn voice like a glove. Spin “Tomorrow” below:
