LailaThe Evolution of Entertainment

Jay-Z proclaimed on The Blueprint 3, “Every day a star is born,” and one shining star we’ve come to love, Ms. Leila Mann, stands testament to that. Her captivating beauty lit the path to a flourishing modeling career, but don’t let her splendor fool you. This Persian Princess is the brains behind the ongoing success of Bijan Entertainment, the heartbeat of Denver’s nightlife.

Since its launch in 2008, Bijan has taken Denver’s entertainment industry by storm. Although renowned for its stunning models, this agency is as versatile as this Renaissance woman herself. Leila leaves no stone unturned by booking musicians, designers and artists for a wide range of events and promotions. “I want to help people get their foot in the door and gain exposure,” she says. “It’s not just about me. Seeing them excel truly makes me happy.”

Many models have Leila to thank for exciting jobs at star-studded events. They work gigs surrounding the VMAs, All-Star weekends, and Super Bowls, to name a few. But, Leila notes, “Working the ‘08 Democratic National Convention was the most memorable as it was such an important time in history.” Looking forward, she anticipates more out-of-state events and hopes to coordinate an event to raise money for disadvantaged families during the holidays.

The name Bijan spawned from an old Persian love story, capturing the uniqueness of the talent the agency oversees. “I want to promote diversity,” Leila says. “There’s such beauty in every race and culture.” Her favorite quote is “We’re all flowers of one garden,” so it’s no wonder Bijan embodies this notion. See the beautiful “flowers” Leila has “picked” by visiting her models’ portfolio shots at myspace.com/BijanEnt.

Bijan is emerging as a well-respected agency, but Leila’s beginnings are modest. Since her first job at the age of 13, she’s met challenges head on. As she climbs her way to the top, breaking glass ceilings in a male dominated industry, Leila finds solace in ensuring others are up there with her. “Bijan’s philosophy and culture is based on models helping models, artists helping artists. It’s about synergy,” she says.

Leila’s passions have led her to wear many hats, literally and figuratively, which provided her a natural extension from the catwalk to the airwaves. She hosted the Livewire Urban Radio show “On One” with J-Wun, Denver’s premier promoter. They discussed sports and the latest gossip and gave exposure to many up and coming artists.

If Leila could bottle her energy and sell it, she’d drive coffee and energy drinks out of business. She’s a whirlwind of positive, contagious vigor with an even more contagious laugh. Honestly, we’ve barely touched the tip of the iceberg. Maybe next time we’ll get on her other successful career as an interior designer and her unwavering commitment to the community.
