Style on 16th Fashion Showcase – May 31st

Style On 16th Street Mall

Style on 16th Fashion Showcase

Saturday May 31st
2pm-4pm
16th Street Mall (Between Stout & California)
Presented by Style Scholars
Hosted by The Denver Theater District

Style Scholars was created in response to the lack of proper appearance by young adults. It was extremely irritating to see young men sagging their pants and the outlandish clothing decisions made by young women. This in mind, program founder John Chapman IV partnered with The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver and formed “Fashion Fridays” in which he, along with his wife, would educate students about fashion and style as an after school class. With the want to do more and expand this class, John took his ideas to the drawing board. Already being very active in fashion, John called on a few colleagues and retailers and expressed his ideal for a new company. This great concept began receiving instant positive feedback and John then established Style Scholars.

Style Scholars is a after school fashion program that leads, guides and educates high school students about the importance of their appearance, and provides various options for possible interactions in the fashion industry. With donations and various forms of funding, Style Scholars administers scholarships, (will) attend New York Fashion Week, and also offers exposure to other fashion incorporated events locally and nationally. As a program, we also give the “scholars” the opportunity to meet and learn from special guest currently involved in the industry.

Style Scholars operates based on three goals:

*Educate each student on the difference between fashion and style.

*Provide each student with ideas of “after high school” options in fashion.

*Enhance each student’s knowledge of (their own) self style
